Author, activist and dissident Chris Hedges spoke at The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy NY on October 16, 2020. In this talk he examines the cultural and social forces that have given rise to extremism in the United States. He explores the myriad of factors that led to the proliferation of neo-fascist militias, extremist organizations, demagogic leaders, vast social divides defined by hate, a hyper nationalism and virulent racism as well as a mass media that has descended into burlesque and fans the flames of social disintegration. Meghan Marohn moderates a Q&A following the talk.

Hedges is the most important voice in the world today, he understands perfectly what is at stake, it's the very soul of humanity. We stand on a cliff edge of utter disaster both social and planetary and the only thing that can save us is our love for each other overcoming our basest instincts once the world starts to go down.

Maybe I am taking this out of context or maybe I just misunderstand what you are trying to say? If I might ask a few questions, I think I could understand what it is you are trying to say in your post.
#1 Neo-Fascist militias, By the actions of the group ANTIFA are they not the poster children for FASCISM. They use violence against any opposing points of view, they burn, tear down or in general try to destroy just to cause anarchy.
#2 By extremist organizations do you refer to BLM? They have amassed a very large following and an abundant amount of money, but in my opinion have done little to stop the senseless deaths of blacks within the major black communities, Chicago, Detroit, LA, & The list goes on.
#3 Is The love for America and a deep heart felt Patriotism HYPER NATIONALISM.
