Shore Gold Inc. said Thursday it will host its second round of community open house meetings on its Saskatchewan diamond project June 14-17.
With an environmental impact assessment nearing completion, the Saskatoon company said it is responsible for keeping the public apprised of the latest proposal for its Star-Orion South diamond project east of Prince Albert.
Shore Gold is also looking to gather input from surrounding communities to assist in the development of its environmental impact statement, which is scheduled to be submitted to provincial and federal authorities later this year.
The meetings are intended to show residents living near the project area what diamond mining would entail, ensure an awareness of effects, obtain feedback from members of the public and answer any questions participants may have, the company said.
"As we near completion of the environmental impact statement and work toward a production decision, it is important to keep the public informed," said George Read, Shore Gold's senior vice-president of exploration and development.
"We need to understand any concerns, gather input and answer inquiries. We look forward to meeting with as many members of the community as we can and to ensure the process is as inclusive as possible."
The open houses will take place in Meath Park on June 14, Choiceland and Nipawin on June 15, Tisdale and Melfort on June 16 and Prince Albert on June 17.
