Coal Producers Rise On Steel, Electricity Use By ALAN R. ELLIOTT, INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Posted 08/06/2010 06:18 PM ET The Energy-Coal group posted one of the biggest advances among industries over the past four weeks. Coal miners are benefiting from two trends. First, recovering demand for electricity in the U.S. is boosting demand for steam coal. Second, China's growth is driving prices for coking coal, also called metallurgical coal. That spurred the coal group to No. 59 among 197 industry rankings in Friday's IBD. The coal group includes a handful of high-rated stocks. Most are forming bases, although some are fairly deep.
