Jump to msg. # Interesting Diamond news here in Canada...
Rio Tinto, BHP mull Canada diamond merger:
MELBOURNE (AFP) - Mining giants Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton are considering merging their Canadian diamond operations, as the former bitter rivals look for savings through increased cooperation, a report said Monday.
Both firms had sent employees to Canada to examine a one billion dollar (850 million US) merger of their diamond mines, which sit alongside each other in the Northwest Territories, the Australian newspaper reported.
They already jointly own the Escondida copper mine in Chile and earlier this year announced plans for a massive iron ore joint venture in Western Australia expected to save the firms at least 10 billion US dollars.
The Australian newspaper said the plan being considered in Canada involved combining operations at BHP's Ekati and Rio's Diavik mines.
Both companies, which were at loggerheads last year when BHP launched a hostile 150 billion dollar takeover offer for Rio, declined to comment on the report.
(do not spin this as a cmkx story..it has nothing to do with us)..but you just watch..one of the gurus like gas bag MOna will spin it...

Jump to msg. # pussim, yes, you are right, it has nothing to do with cmkx, but you have to admit it sure fits with what the gurus have been saying all along. that is, a merger of huge proportion. well, let's imagine that rio, bhp, shore and whatever remains of cmkx and/or its jv partners were to go in together to form a diamond exploration, mining and distribution company.
as for distribution, you have to go back to one of my69z's latter mp3s (maybe my69z will come out of retirement?) where he talks about the world's largest diamond distributor being involved in shore gold, and possibly cmkx. i believe it was an israeli company. i forget the name. but you put all of those companies together and you have yourself maybe the largest diamond group in the world, larger than de beers.
we'd only be a small part of the thing, but maybe we'll be lucky to be just a part,,,, in the year 2525. lol

Relevant Factors
To grant enforcement of any foreign judgment, an Ontario court typically must be satisfied of three things.
First, the court that granted the judgment must have had jurisdiction to try the case, according to its own rules. If the judgment debtor was physically present in the jurisdiction, or actually defended the lawsuit, then the court's jurisdiction is automatically assumed. The defendant is said to have attorned to the jurisdiction of the foreign court. If the judgment debtor was not physically present, then the judgment creditor must prove that there was a “real and substantial connection” that justified the foreign court assuming jurisdiction over the dispute.
